An Expert System for Decoding and Analysis of Fax and Modem ...

GL Communications Inc. a leader in providing PC-based test, analysis and simulation products and consulting services to the worldwide telecommunications industry, conveyed today the availability of its product GLInsight™ - An expert system for decoding and analysis of Fax and Modem communications over PSTN or IP Networks.

Speaking to the press, Mr. Vijay Kulkarni CEO of the company said, "GLInsight™ is a state-of-the-art system that provides promptly processed information and analysis of data collected on IP and PSTN networks. Decoded results are analyzed on a per-network basis. Alternatively, data from two networks can be combined to provide additional insight into the networks' behavior."

He explained, "Over PSTN networks, the raw files required for fax and modem analysis can be obtained using following hardware platforms: GL's T1 E1 Analyzer with Call Capture Analysis - The capability of CCA software to non-intrusively record calls directly from T1 E1 lines offers a solution to capture Voice/ Fax / Modem traffic from the 2-wire Analog interface. Nevertheless, this capture solution requires the purchase of T1 E1 Analyzer. In other way, users can use GL's 2-Wire Voice Recorder with Dual UTA - The Voice Recorder Software is primarily used in conjunction with Dual Universal Telephony Adapter hardware device to capture the voice/modem/fax data manually / automatically from the 2-wire Analog interface. The recorded PCM voice/data files can be analyzed using GL Insight™ Modem and Fax Analysis Software for 2-wire Analog interface and Adobe Audition for voice files analysis.

Similarly, for fax and modem analysis over IP, the captured files can be obtained using GL's PacketScan™ - VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) analyzer. The software supports capturing and decoding of Fax calls over VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol). Its fax decodes can be viewed in the form of T.38 call graph and call summary with decoded information for all T.38 messages received on the call. The captured fax calls by PacketScan™ can as well be analyzed using GLInsight™ by saving the fax calls directly in Ethereal file format."

Mr.Kulkarni furthermore added, "GLInsight™ has a Windows?-based user-friendly GUI which supplies the developer with varied and valuable information. Results files and transmitted graphics, signal level, and signal quality are just a few of the diagnostic tools provided. It demodulates the raw transmissions and presents the decoded data in an easy to understand format. It produces extensive log files with all relevant debugging information for easy event tracing which in turn provides insight to potential sources of problems."

.Enables demodulation and analysis of Data, Fax, Mobile Fax, Mobile Data, and VoIP transmissions over TDM and IP networks ?Offline analysis of TDM & IP captured files ?Supports Windows? XP, and Windows?7 operating systems ?Mixed Fax-over-IP using T.38/G.711 and Fax-over-PSTN Cross Analysis ?Mixed Modem over IP and Modem over PSTN Cross Analysis ?Time synchronization performed on PSTN and IP signals ?Cross analysis of two networks ?Provides bottom-up deep diagnosis of calls to solve interoperability issues ?Diagnoses physical and network layer problems ?Non-intrusive IP/TDM network diagnosis of high packet loss rate, high jitter, echo path, and echo canceller performance, to indicate possible locations of problems

About GL Communications Inc., Founded in 1986, GL Communications Inc. is a leading supplier of test, monitoring, and analysis equipment for TDM, Wireless, IP and VoIP networks. Unlike conventional test equipment, GL's test platforms provide visualization, capture, storage, and convenient features like portability, remotability, and scripting.

GL's VoIP and IP products generate / analyze thousands of calls and traffic simultaneously with traffic types just as frames, packets, voice files, digits, video, tones, noise, and fax. Nearly all codecs are supported including G.711, G.729, AMR, EVRC-A, B, C, GSM, iSAC, and many more. Additional features include visual analysis, real-time listening, and recording. The product line as well includes Ethernet / IP Testing capability that simulates and checks frame transport and throughput parameters of Ethernet and IP networks, including delay, errors and other impairments.

GL's Voice Quality Testing product line complements all of GL's products. Using ITU-standard algorithms, GL's VQT provides a widely accepted solution for assessing voice quality in the telecom industry. Voice Quality Testing across multiple networks is available.

GL's Wireless Products perform protocol analysis and voice quality assessment on GSM, CDMA, UMTS, and LTE (Long Term Evolution, latest standard in the mobile network technology) networks. Connections can be made to any wireless phone with automated call control, GPS mapping and real-time signal measurements.

The broadest range of simulation

GL's Echo Canceller testing solutions provide the broadest range of simulation and analysis, including line and acoustic echo. GL's compliance testing per G.168. G.167 and P.340 across TDM, IP, VoIP and Wireless networks is widely accepted in the industry.

GL's wireless VQT solutions help assessing impairments to voice quality just as poor mobile phone quality, voice compression and decompression algorithms, delay, loss and gain in speech levels, noise, acoustic and landline echo, and other distortions are easily assessed and accurately measured.

Wide variety of communications facilities

GL's Handheld data testers can test a wide variety of communications facilities and equipment including T1, fractional T1, E1, fractional E1, T3 and E3 modems, multiplexers, CSU, DSUs, T1 CSUs, DTUs, NTUs and TIUs and more. The testers provide convenience, economy, and portability for nearly any interface, including RS232, RS-422, RS-530, X.21, T1, E1, T3, E3, and many others.

GL's Network Surveillance and Monitoring products include Probes for TDM, IP, VoIP, ATM, and Wireless networks. An open standards based approach provides a scalable, feature rich, real-time access to network characteristics. Centralized or distributed access, efficient transport and database loading allow compatibility with 3rd party and standards based monitoring systems.
