??????????? People who have always wanted to try their hand at painting, or who?d like to learn the popular art of making hand-crafted jewelry, can explore their talents in three upcoming classes from the Business and Community Education Program at Garden City Community College.
??????????? The step-by-step painting class will cover various media, including acrylic paints and pastels.? Instructor Dani Falor is an art teacher at Garden City High School and earned a bachelor of science degree in art education from CentralMichiganUniversity.?
In the class, scheduled 6-8 p.m. Sept. 13, 14, 20 and 21, Falor will introduce participants to the basic skills of perspective, highlighting, shadowing and textures.? All supplies are provided.? Enrollees only need to bring a roll of paper towels.? The class fee is $135.?
Jewelry making classes in beading and wire wrapping are also scheduled on Sept.14 and 15.? Both will be taught by Trudy Miller, a jewelry designer who has been making gifts for family and friends for years.? She is also an accomplished artist in watercolor, acrylic and oil painting, plus stained glass.?
Jewelry Making Techniques: Basic Bead Stringing is set for 6-8 p.m. Sept. 14.? Miller will introduce participants to the basic techniques for making necklaces, bracelets and earrings.? These include bead stringing, crimping and using crimp covers to create a professionally finished piece.?
The wire wrapping method of jewelry making will be explored from 6-8 p.m. Sept 15.? Participants can advance their jewelry making skills and learn to perform simple wire wraps, double wire wraps and bead wraps.? Miller will also demonstrate how to make ear wires, spiral clasps and more.
Each jewelry class costs $65 and all materials are provided.? If participants own jewelry making tools, such as chain nose or round nose pliers or wire cutters, Miller encourages students to bring them.? ?????
Miller has been named Artist of the Week by Emmalinebride.com and is a current member of Couture Colorado.?
Enrollment for all classes is requested one week in advance.? Classes will only be offered with sufficient enrollment.?
