ROLE:?
VH1 is seeking a Sr. Publicist, TV Publicity who will be responsible for developing and implementing communications strategies for VH1 programming, working daily with a broad range of media outlets covering television, music, entertainment, business, politics, and advertising.? Internally, this candidate will work closely with other communication staff, as well as executives from programming, production, online, business development, ad sales, marketing, and other areas to compose press announcements, internal communications, press strategies and presentations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
??Serve as lead PR contact for VH1 series, specials, events, music?programming as well as sister channel VH1 Classic.
??Create and execute strategic communications plans.
??Coordinate national press interviews, satellite media tours and gallery/episodic photo shoots with talent
??Create effective media pitches for consumer, trade, electronic and print media.
??Participate in all appropriate programming and marketing meetings for assigned projects and interface with production personnel in gathering elements needed to promote assigned projects.
??Execute corporate communications and trade press outreach including pitching business-related stories around assigned shows, drafting personnel announcements, ratings releases/items, and maintaining network documents and factsheets.
??Build and maintain relationships with the blogging/online community (e.g.: leaking clips to entertainment/music sites to generate show buzz, pitching items to bloggers and coordinating on-set activities for online journalists during program production).
??Assist with various red carpet events such as Critics Choice Awards, VH1 Divas, Hip Hop Honors and series premiere parties.
??Escort talent to press appearances and special events.
??Work with TV and music writers as well as TV Book editors, photo ?editors and listings editors to establish and maintain successful ?relationships.
??Compose press materials for various series, specials and events and compile speaking points for executives and talent.
??Work closely with talent, executives and corporate offices to generate press and coordinate panels at the bi-annual Television Critics Association (TCA).
??Building relationships with VH1 talent and their representation.
REQUIREMENTS:
??B.A. Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Mass Media, Journalism, highly desired
??5 to 7 years minimum experience in television communications, publicity, public relations or media relations is mandatory
??Proven exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills are essential
??Strong knowledge of Public Relations and Press experience in media relations, press campaign development and execution of creative, strategic and well-thought communication plans.
??Experience in working with talent publicists, managers and agents.
??High confidence and skilled influence delivering talent media training, executive coaching and camera ready media preparation
??Proven knowledge of television, including ratings, emerging technologies, (i.e. digital services, HDTV and VOD), web and digital entertainment
??Must understand and appreciate the Comedy Central brand, know competitive brands and
??Proven solid and portable relationships with major press outlets including National Magazines, Consumer Print and Television trades, Online Press outlets, Celebrity blogs, Radio, Political and Business media.
