MERRIAM, Kan. ? Security was a bit more visible at some locations, but it was otherwise business as usual at metro movie theaters on Friday night, a day after a gunman opened fire in a suburban Denver movie theater, killing at least 12 people and injuring scores more.
James Holmes, 24, is accused of opening fire on moviegoers at a midnight screening of the latest Batman movie ? ?The Dark Knight Rises? ? at an Aurora, Colorado, movie theater. He is now in federal custody.

At the Cinemark theater in Merriam, there were a few more police officers than usual patrolling the parking lot and a greater sense of alertness on the part of moviegoers, but most say that they were not going to let what happened in Colorado stop them from going to the movies.
Moviegoer Michael Frost brought his wife and four kids to see ?The Dark Knight Rises? on Friday night. He says that he?s not worried about his safety ? and though he?ll sugar-coat the news for his children, he says he?s not afraid to tell them what happened.
?(I?ll) tell them man had some problems and did something bad, but don?t let that keep you from doing what you?re trying to do,? said Frost. ?If you want to go to the movies, it?s ok.?
