Google TV YouTube app updated for better recommendations, search and sharing

It only makes sense that the Google TV initiative to increase personalization would extend to videos served up from its YouTube site, and now the official app has been updated to do just that. The new version brings recommendations meant to pull gems you might like out of the ever growing pile of content available, as well as a way to search between the new YouTube channels on your TV. Also users should notice improved video quality since the app will automatically try to play content at the best available resolution from the start, and if they find something interesting, it now supports +1 sharing to Google+. The new app is already live on Google Play, compatible devices should be pointed that way for the new experience.

Usher Says 'Scream' Is 'Just In Time For Summer'

Following 'Climax,' singer tells MTV News his latest single 'represents the other side' of Looking for Myself album.

Bumping beats, sexy lyrics and Usher's signature R&B bad-boy swagger can only mean one thing: the singer has once again hooked up with superstar pop producer Max Martin. Their latest collaboration, "Scream," picks up where "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" left off back in 2010.

Usher used that track to convince us to go home with him after a dizzying night of partying, and for "Scream," he's got us back at his pad and he's rocking our world, one fist-pumping moment at a time. While he opted to slow it down on "Climax," Usher is back to large-scale dance tracks on Looking for Myself's second single. And, he told MTV News, both tracks reflect the sound of the album.

"This album has many different views and many different perspectives," he told MTV News while rehearsing for his one-night run as the lead in NYC's off-Broadway spectacle "Fuerza Bruta," which also served as a place for Usher to debut the album ahead of its release. "And me and Max Martin, we've had success together in the past, and this was a record I felt represented the other side of the [album]."

"Scream" and "Climax" truly are polar-opposite tracks. Where "Climax" sears and broods, "Scream" celebrates and dances. Usher is excited for the chance to show all those sides with the two lead singles from the June 12 release.

"Whereas the first song was a little bit more artistic and a little bit more soulful, and it has done everything, it probably exceeded my expectations, I mean, from the moment I was able to give it away. I was able to kind of be reintroduced in a way musically, and thank you to [producer] Diplo, but 'Scream' is really like the next step. It's just in time for summer and the type of experience that I want people to get out of the album."

But the Atlanta-bred singer notes that the album can't be defined just by "Climax" or "Scream." There's a lot there to keep fans tuning in. "It's a ton of other experiences and a ton of other walks ... as I've had this long journey over the last year [and] every bit of what I've experienced I've put into a creative, artistic way," he said.

As for the video, well, that still has to be shot, but he joked that "Fuerza Bruta" might serve as the perfect backdrop for the clip — or maybe not. "We might be shooting it while we're here," he laughed. "This is like a movie set, damn near — sh-- you don't normally see with the launch of an album. This is pretty spectacular."

What are you expecting from Usher's next album? Let us know in the comments!

Digital Storm locks and loads Ivy Bridge into its new recruits

Digital Storm has announced that its premium-priced (and not so premium-priced) gaming PCs will soon be touting Ivy Bridge processors. This means, going forward, all machines will come with the Intel's third generation Core architecture, with the PC maker already claiming it's managed overclocks at 4.8GHz. Like its machines, Digital Storm is keeping cool on when the systems will find their way from workshop to LAN, or what effect (if any) there'll be on pricing. Keep the cross hairs focused on the source link for more info.

The Seven Forces Disrupting Venture Capital

shift keyFor the past two years, I have read or glanced over what seems like hundreds of blog posts and thousands of tweets from people who either directly claim or indirectly hint at a disruption of traditional venture capital. For some, the factors related to the economy, that limited partners and especially institutional investors were reviewing their investment approaches. For others, it seemed as if there was too much money in the venture asset class, that there was too much money chasing too few real opportunities. There seemed to be a long laundry list of why venture capital was undergoing this shift, but never any thread that could lay out all the factors and synthesize just how each factor contributed to shift. That is, until now..

No, AirPlay Is Not The New Apple TV

a3If you asked your mom or dad what DLNA or UPnP stood for or did, would they just look at you weird? While the two technologies enable users to wirelessly beam content to Internet Connected TVs from their tablets, phones, and computers, Apple?s AirPlay is the first implementation that makes the experience seamless. Tap the button again and playback resumes on your root device. No complicated setup is required - it simply works. Some, like Bloomberg and Hunter Walk, have suggested that AirPlay is Apple TV, and that Apple will simply license AirPlay to the major Connected TV manufactures - and by default every Connected TV sold will be an "Apple TV" - the remote being your iPhone or iPad. It's certainly a sensible theory - there are 250 M+ iOS devices, and with the upcoming OS X update, laptops can now leverage Airplay as well. That's over 300M Apple devices that can push content to TVs.

Meghan McCain Rips Greta Van Susteren for Inviting Lindsay Lohan to White House Dinner

Meghan McCain bashed Fox News' Greta Van Susteren on Twitter Friday for inviting Lindsay Lohan to this weekend's White House Correspondents' Association dinner.

Not just for the sake of hating on Lohan, a la Rosie O'Donnell.

“Let me get this straight,” Meghan McCain, 27, tweeted. “Greta Van Susteren is bringing Lindsay Lohan to the WHC Dinner but has a moral offense to Louie C.K?”

In March, Van Susteren called for a boycott of the Radio/TV Correspondence Dinner over comedian C.K.'s past controversial statements about women.

"The headliner of this year’s Radio and Television Correspondents Dinner is “comedian” Louis C.K. Comedian? I don’t think so. Pig? yes," she wrote.

"He uses filthy language about women. Yes, the C word…and yes, even to describe a woman candidate for Vice President of the United States. It isn’t just Governor Palin he denigrates. He denigrates all women and looks to the crowd to laugh."

Apparently Megs isn't offended ... except by Greta. The daughter of U.S. Sen. John McCain may not be crazy about Lindsay attending, but she's still going.

The Republican blogger, columnist and author Tweeted that she's "headed to DC for the nerd prom." Just hope they don't seat her with Greta or LiLo.

Sprint Galaxy Nexus unboxing and hands-on

It's been many months in coming, but the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is finally available on Sprint. For all intents and purposes, it's the same Galaxy Nexus we've come to know and love over the past five months or so. Same 4.65-inch Super AMOLED display at 720x1280 resolution. Same 32GB of storage. Same 1GB of memory. And, like the other versions of the Galaxy Nexus, it's running the latest version of Android, aka Ice Cream Sandwich. (For those of you who worry about such things, it's running the latest version, Android 4.0.4, out of the box.) It's also got the same 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with zero shutter lag. Huzzah.

The big seller here, of course, is that the Galaxy Nexus is one of Sprint's first LTE-enabled phones. That's the good news. The bad news is that Sprint hasn't yet turned on its LTE network. So it's 3G-only for now. But once that switch is flipped, we're expecting to see some impressive data speeds. Oh, and because we're talking Sprint here, it's also got Google Wallet built in from the outset. So there's that.

Check out our official unboxing and initial hands-on above.
